Guest Speaker on Weather

Posted on: November 16, 2016

On Tuesday November 15, we were pleased to have KEZI’s Chief Meteorologist, Marisa Woloszyn visit and speak to our sixth graders about the weather. They have been studying weather in science class and what an awesome opportunity to connect with a local celebrity. She spoke with them about how she creates a forecast using multiple models and the science and math involved. She also talked about her job on the news and how the the broadcast is done. She even showed them a picture of the green screen set with the monitors that she looks at while filming. At the end of her presentation she answered questions from the students. The last thing she did was take a picture of the students that was aired on the news during the 6 and 11 o’clock broadcasts.

Veterans’ Day Parade

Posted on: November 16, 2016

The band marched in the Veterans’ Day Parade on Friday November 11 in Albany.  We consider it quite an honor to celebrate our veterans and our town by being part of the parade. The kids did a great job under the direction of Andy Nelson.

If you did not get a chance to see the parade first hand here is a video from the parade.

Another tradition related to the Parade is that after the parade the band marches through the halls so that the entire school can see and hear the band. All of the kids enjoy the private parade, and now you can as well!

All City Cross Country Meet

Posted on: November 3, 2016

What a great first season of middle school Cross Country! Many great things happened for our athletes, and everyone is looking forward to next year’s season.

We are so proud of our students for managing their school work, family obligations, and other extra curricular activities, and still making the time to train after school on a daily basis. Over the course of the year students set and achieved personal goals, learned sportsmanship, and made friends with people they might never have otherwise talked to.

Our final home event, the Albany All City Meet, was attended by all the middle schools in the greater Albany School district. It was the culminating meet of the season for our athletes and many of them set new personal records.

The girls’ race.

North Albany placed first as a team in the girls’ division.

The boys’ race.

The boys placed third. The division was was won by TimberRidge.

We are already looking forward to next season with uniforms, more meets, and improving from this year’s experiences. More information will be available this spring.
