Dear NAMS Families~
We hope that you are staying safe and healthy and are managing the many changes/restrictions of life at home. We are sad that we don’t get to end the school year with students in our building and experience some of our regular celebrations together. Many of you have asked about 8th Grade Promotion, awards, and other topics. Here are the current updates:
~8th Grade Promotion – Our teachers are busy creating a virtual 8th Grade Promotion. We will be printing promotion certificates and other special awards. These items will be mailed home along with a yearbook if you purchased one this school year. We will have a video ready to share with you the last week of school.
~Last Day of School – The last official day of school is Wednesday, June 10th. We ask that all assignments be turned in no later than Friday, June 5, so that teachers can finalize grades.
~Furlough Days – All staff are taking 2 furlough days per week until the end of the school year. We have a rotating schedule so that there is always a grade level and content area teacher available for students. Teachers have emailed students the days that they are available and have posted this on their individual Google Classrooms.
~Thank You – We appreciate the input we received from all of you that took the survey about Distance Learning. One of the things we learned is that our students need to be connected to their teachers and to each other, especially in the middle school years. As a result, our teachers have been inviting students to Google Classroom Meets. My hope is that all students attend these meetings when they are able. ~Forecasting – Current 6th and 7th Grade students will be sent a link to choose their Elective classes for the upcoming school year. Estimadas familias de NAMS ~
Esperamos que se mantenga seguro y saludable y que esté manejando los muchos cambios / restricciones de la vida en el hogar. Estamos tristes de no poder terminar el año escolar con estudiantes en nuestro edificio y experimentar algunas de nuestras celebraciones regulares juntos. Muchos de ustedes han preguntado sobre la promoción, los premios y otros temas del octavo grado. Aquí están las actualizaciones actuales:
~ Promoción de octavo grado: nuestros maestros están ocupados creando una promoción virtual de octavo grado. Imprimiremos certificados de promoción y otros premios especiales. Estos artículos serán enviados a casa junto con un anuario si compró uno este año escolar. Tendremos un video listo para compartir con ustedes la última semana de clases.
~ Último día de clases: el último día oficial de clases es el miércoles 10 de junio. Pedimos que todas las tareas se entreguen a más tardar el viernes 5 de junio, para que los maestros puedan finalizar las calificaciones.
~ Días de licencia – Todo el personal está tomando 2 días de licencia por semana hasta el final del año escolar. Tenemos un horario rotativo para que siempre haya un maestro de nivel de grado y área de contenido disponible para los estudiantes. Los maestros han enviado un correo electrónico a los estudiantes los días que están disponibles y lo han publicado en sus aulas individuales de Google.
~ Gracias. Agradecemos los comentarios que recibimos de todos ustedes que respondieron la encuesta sobre educación a distancia. Una de las cosas que aprendimos es que nuestros estudiantes necesitan estar conectados con sus maestros y entre ellos, especialmente en los años de escuela intermedia. Como resultado, nuestros maestros han estado invitando a los estudiantes a Google Classroom Meets. Espero que todos los estudiantes asistan a estas reuniones cuando puedan.
